"Nithya Panchangam" Android App aims to provide details about the five main elements of Vedic Astrology.
These are Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and Vasaram. Besides the 5 basic "Panchangam" elements, "Nithya Panchangam" details 17 more elements for a given Calendar day.

Dina Vishesham - Indicates the event (or) festival (or) function for a given calendar day.
Dina Drishti - Indicates if the day is an auspicious day (or) not. One of four possibilities is displayed: Normal Day (or) Inauspicious Day (or) Shubha Muhurta Day (or) Careful - to indicate that one or more aspects are not favourable.
Sunrise Time - Time of sunrise in the horizon. This varies according to the location, longitude, latitude, sea level, precipitation, etc.
Sunset Time - Time of sunset in the horizon. This varies according to the location, longitude, latitude, sea level, precipitation, etc.
Kaala Vibhaagaha - Represents a "kaalam" in a given calendar day. For more details, refer kaala muhurtam.
Samvatsaram - Represents a "year" in Vedic literature.
Ayanam - Represents movement of the Sun on the celestial sphere. It can be either Uttaraayaṇa or Dakshinayana.
Uttaraayaṇa (commonly Uttarayan), is derived from two different Sanskrit words – "uttara" (North) and "ayana" (movement) – thus indicating a semantic of the northward movement of the Sun on the celestial sphere.
Dakshinayana, indicates the southward movement of the Sun on the celestial sphere.
Rithu - Represents a "season" as per Vedic literature.
Maasam (Solar Month) - Represents a "Solar month" as per Vedic calendar. For more details, refer solar month names
Maasam (Lunar Month) - Represents a "Lunar month" as per Vedic calendar. For more details, refer lunar month names
Paksham - Represents a fortnight as per Vedic calendar. For more details, refer paksham details.
Thithi - Represents a lunar day as per Vedic calendar. For more details, refer Thithi details.
Vaasaram - Represents a weekday as per Vedic calendar. For more details, refer Vaasaram details.
Raasi - Represents 1/12th part (30 degrees) of the imaginary belt (Niraayana) of 360 degrees in celestial space as per Vedic literature. For more details, refer Raasi details.
Nakshatram - Represents 1/27th part (13 degrees 20') of the imaginary belt (Nirayana) of 360 degrees in celestial space as per Vedic literature. For more details, refer Nakshatram details.
Chandrashtama Nakshatram - In simple terms, Chandrashtamam means a day when the moon is transiting through the eighth house to your own moon sign which is known as Raasi in Vedic Astrology. Though it take roughly two and half days for moon to cross each Raasi, the entire two and half days of moons transition into the eighth sign is considered as Chandrashtamam. The critical part of these days are only 13 degree 20 minutes duration of moon’s movement, or a specific full star or constellation known as Nakshatram that affects most when it crosses specific star of that eighth Raasi. It is strongly recommended to avoid this Chandrashtama days for any important work or other auspicious functions.

Karanam - Represents 1/2 of a thithi. For more details, refer Karanam details
Lagnam - One's Ascendant, or Lagna, is the degree of the Raasi (or sign) and nakshatra (or constellation) specifically the nakshatra pada (also known as the division of a constellation into 4 different parts) which is rising on the eastern horizon at the time of one's birth. Horai - Represents 1/24th part of the day indicating good or bad muhurta. Note: A more detailed Horai tabular view can be seen when this row is clicked.
Shubha Kaalam - Represents auspicious time(s) within a calendar day.
Raahu Kaalam - Represents an inauspicious time (ruled by Raahu) span every day which is not considered favourable to start a new activity. For more details, refer Raahu Kaalam.
Yamagandam - Represents an inauspicious time (ruled by Ketu) span every day which is not considered favourable to start a new activity.
Kuligai - Represents a time (ruled by Gulikan, son of Shani) of day where any activity when done repeats itself.

Every act needs to start with an intent, resolve and good will. This is nicely reflected in Vedic scriptures in the form of a "Sankalpam". For more details, refer Sankalpam meaning
The second paragraph in "Sankalpam" tab, highlights in "RED" colour, the current (or) selected date's panchangam information.
For all auspicious functions, festivals, celebrations, etc, "Shubha" sankalpam is done before starting the act.
Note: This is a default setting in "Nithya Panchangam" App. This can be changed in the "Settings" menu. Note: User can use "left" & "right" arrow buttons to navigate to previous & next calendar dates.
For all pithru karyams or any other not so auspicious activities etc, "Shradha" sankalpam is done before starting the act.

"Nithya Panchangam" App supports addition of time-based Alarms.
Upon creation of the Alarm, a notification shall pop up at the stipulated time of the Alarm.
User shall have an option to "Snooze" or "Dismiss" the Alarm.
Note: "Snooze" duration is 10 mins.
There are three modes supported.
When this mode is selected, Alarm rings at the stipulated time.
If user clicks "Dismiss" in the notification, then this Alarm is permanently stopped.
If user clicks "Snooze" in the notification, then this Alarm will fire again in 10 mins.
When this mode is selected, Alarm rings at the stipulated time everyday.
If user clicks "Dismiss" in the notification, then this Alarm is stopped for the day but shall fire again same time on the next day.
If user clicks "Snooze" in the notification, then this Alarm will fire again in 10 mins.
When this mode is selected, Alarm rings at the stipulated time on selected days.
User shall have an option to select the calendar days when the Alarm needs to fire.
If user clicks "Dismiss" in the notification, then this Alarm is stopped for the day but shall fire again same time on the next "selected" day.
If user clicks "Snooze" in the notification, then this Alarm will fire again in 10 mins.
"Nithya Panchangam" App supports festival or event-based Reminders.
Upon enablements of the Reminder, a notification shall pop up at the stipulated time of the Reminder, on the occurrence of the festival or event.
User shall have an option to "Snooze" or "Dismiss" the Reminder.
Note: "Snooze" duration is 10 mins.
There are two modes supported.
When this mode is selected, Reminder rings at the stipulated time.
If user clicks "Dismiss" in the notification, then this Reminder is permanently stopped.
If user clicks "Snooze" in the notification, then this Reminder will fire again in 10 mins.
When this mode is selected, Reminder rings at the stipulated time on the exact day of the occurrence of the festival or event.
If user clicks "Dismiss" in the notification, then this Reminder is stopped for the day but shall fire again same time on the next occurrence of the same festival (or) event.
If user clicks "Snooze" in the notification, then this Reminder will fire again in 10 mins.
"Nithya Panchangam" App supports a monthly calendar view that superimposes "Dhina Ankam" & "Dhina Vishesham" images over a Gregorian monthly calendar.
Each cell in the calendar represents a date. A pop up is shown with minimal Vedic panchangam details when user clicks on a particular date.
User needs to click "tick" mark button for the Panchangam/Sankalpam details to be properly displayed as per the selected date.
Note: "Dhina Ankam" represents the calendar date as per the Vedic Panchangam.
"Dhina Vishesham" displays an image that represents the event (or) function as per Vedic Panchangam.
User has options to change year, month or date using the "left" or "right" navigation controls.
User also has an option to pop up a "year change" dialog box that allows changing only the year within a 200-year time period.
Regular stopwatch that supports "Start", "Pause" and "Stop" functionalities.
Running time is shown in MM:SS:MIS format (MM - Minutes, SS: Seconds, MIS: Milliseconds)
"Nithya Panchangam" App supports configuration of the following settings:
"Nithya Panchangam" App supports Eight display languages - Tamil, Sanskrit, IAST, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi & English.
"Nithya Panchangam" App supports two ways to configure location - "Manual" or "GPS-based".
User can click on the "location" field in "Panchangam" tab to change the location as per the user's choice. This is explained in "Location Selection" section above.
When this option is configured, location is auto-retrieved based on GPS/Internet settings. Location thus retrieved can be viewed in the "location" field in "Panchangam" tab.
Note: This requires user permissions.
